Policy Guidelines

These policies have been established to provide consistent guidelines for use and operation of the Constantine Community Fitness Center. Each guest is responsible for knowledge of these policies and failure to observe them may be cause for suspension or termination of all usage privileges associated with this facility. The Constantine School District reserves the right to change policies in the best interest of the Fitness Center operations. These policies will be posted and available upon request. Neither the existence of these policies, nor the enforcement or nonenforcement of same shall create a duty of supervision or liability on behalf of CCFC/CPS.

Inclement Weather

When Constantine Schools are closed because of inclement weather, the Fitness Center will also be closed. You can verify school closing by checking radio stations 92.9 WNDU, 590 WKZO, 104.7 WFRN, 106.5 WQLR, 95.9 WLKM, 99.3 WMSH, 103.3 WKMI/WRKR, B100 WRBR, 94.9 WWMQ, 98.5 WNWN, and television channels 3,16, 22, and 28.

The operating schedule may change in the event of an emergency or a special event with or
without notice.

Description of Memberships

Use of the Community Fitness Center is restricted to paying members that have signed all waivers (or, if applicable, have had their parents or guardians sign same) and have paid their membership fees.

  • Student – 14 years of age attending school through college students up to 25 years old
  • Individual – membership for one person out of school up to 60 years of age
  • Senior – 60 years and over
  • Staff/Corporation – CPS staff, or any Corporation with a minimum of 6 joining
  • Family – two or more people living in the same household

Daily Pass/Drop-In

Eligible members may purchase a card that is good for one visit to the Community Fitness Center.

  • Daily passes may be purchased for $5 per visit.
  • A drop-in pass may be reused at a later time on the same day by displaying a receipt upon check-in.
  • Solicitation of daily pass sponsorship is prohibited.

Registration Policy (Membership Cards)

  • All memberships are sold at the Fitness Center
  • Eligible members must display appropriate forms of ID and make payment in full by cash or check at the time of application ($25 charge for returned checks).
  • A membership card will be issued to allow access to the Fitness Center. Additional family members included on the membership, but not present at the time of application, will be issued a membership card upon presentation of valid forms of ID.

ID Cards

  • All cards are non-transferable and may be confiscated or revoked due to improper use.

Television, Radios and Sound System

Fitness Center staff will control all television and sound systems and have final determination on the type and volume of television programs and music selected for use in the facility. Requests or problems should be directed to the Fitness Center staff on duty. Personal listening devices (iPods) are permitted. NO BOOM BOXES of any sort will be allowed.

Participant Dress/Hygiene

Appropriate dress is required while using the Fitness Center.

  • All clothing must exhibit good taste, contain no offensive words or pictures, and be clean. (The Fitness Center staff will have the final say on appropriate dress)
  • Shoes must be worn at all times, and be appropriate athletic shoes.
  • Shoes must be clean of dirt. Open toed shoes, such as sandals, are not permitted.
  • Dry shoes must be worn at all times
  • Shoes must be salt free
  • No loose jewelry that may pose a risk while using equipment
  • Shirts must be worn at all times
  • No mid-sections exposed
  • No jeans with rivets (harmful to equipment)

Exercise Precautions

The following precautions should be considered before beginning an exercise program:

  • Participants are encouraged to consult a physician prior to engaging in an exercise program and limit activities taking into account physical condition and skill level.
  • Refer to the instruction placards or staff when using all exercise equipment.
  • The Constantine School District is not responsible for injuries or damages which may occur on or about the premises of the Fitness Center.
  • Exercise at your own risk.

Accidents and Injuries

Report all accidents and injuries to the Fitness Center staff, First aid supplies are available and
shall be self-administered.

  • The manager and staff possess CPR, FIRST AID and AED certification.
  • All accidents and injuries requiring assistance will be documented in an Accident Report AND 911 CALLED IF NECESSARY.
  • The Constantine School District is not responsible for accidents or injuries that are in any manner related to the use of the facility or equipment at the Fitness Center.

Parking Availability

  • Enter parking lot off of Canaris Street by the Alternative Ed & Administrative building. This is a ONE WAY entrance with the exit being by the baseball field.
  • When the high school is hosting a home baseball or track event parking may be difficult.

Restroom Facilities

  • In the morning you will be able to use the restrooms located in the Middle School lobby.
  • In the evening if there is not a home event you will be able to use the restrooms in the middle school lobby. If events are going on in the gym, you may have to use the outdoor restrooms below the fitness center.
  • Shower/changing facilities are not available.

Middle School Gym

  • In the morning the Middle School gym may be used to walk/run as part of the Fitness Center.
  • Evening use would be permitted if there are no teams or groups using the gym and the cleaning has been completed or use is not hampering cleaning of the gym.

Outdoor 8-Lane All-Weather Track

  • Weather permitting, the track is always open to the public unless there is a home event or
    other school use is taking place. Please walk/run in the outside lanes, 6, 7, 8.

Other

  • Please immediately report any malfunctions of equipment to the Fitness Center staff.
  • Please do not bring valuables; Fitness Center is not responsible for lost items.
  • There are no locker rooms for use at this time.
  • Please be prepared to show ID if asked to do so.
  • CCFC/CPS are not responsible for lost or stolen membership cards.
  • We reserve the right to deny access to any individual who violates policy, rules, regulations, or guidelines of Constantine Community Fitness Center.
  • Fees and hours are subject to change.
  • Please limit your workout to a maximum of 30 minutes on the cardio equipment during peak times.
  • Use of tobacco, tobacco products, alcohol, and illegal substances are prohibited on Constantine Public Schools grounds and buildings.
  • Inappropriate language will not be tolerated, no spitting or yelling.
  • Food and open drinks are prohibited in the fitness center; however, feel free to bring water in a closed (non-glass) container. A vending machine with water will be available with all proceeds coming back to the CCFC.
  • Please wipe down machines when you finish using them (esp. the vinyl). Towels and cleaning bottles are provided by the Fitness Center.
  • Absolutely no horseplay or loitering will be tolerated in the Fitness Center.
  • Do not lean against equipment or use it as a clothing rack.
  • It is understood that all membership/user fees are necessary to offset Constantine Community Fitness Center costs and that CCFC is not a proprietary endeavor.
  • It is understood that Constantine Public Schools shall have priority use of all facilities used by the Community Fitness Center. Community Fitness Center use shall be restricted to before and after school and during the summer recess, at times more particularly determined by Constantine Public Schools. Community Fitness Center participants agree that at no time shall Community Fitness Center use occur during use by the Constantine Public Schools, and all Community Fitness Center participants shall leave the Fitness Center as necessary to comply with the foregoing.
